Omar Sosa & Gustavo Ovalles

Born in Cuba, where he studied percussion before taking up the piano, Omar Sosa has for over thirty years been developing an original fusion of influences that reflect his background, blending classical music, jazz and electronica with the traditions of his island - in particular the Yoruba cult - with which he is naturally imbued, while looking towards his original continent, Africa, where he has forged numerous artistic collaborations.

With Venezuelan percussionist Gustavo Ovalles, a veritable magician of sound surrounded by a forest of instruments, he has been cultivating a fertile one-to-one relationship for several decades, in which the piano becomes a drum and the drums become pianos, in a constant dialogue around rhythms and timbres, carried from start to finish by the spirit of dance.
